Description
La Casuzza is a stylish, rustic property sitting on a hill overlooking a picturesque valley with carob and olive trees. The owners have chosen to fuse the traditional beauty of the Sicilian countryside with a contemporary, elegant interior of the house. Cut into stone, the 18-meter long pool has stunning views over the olive groves and sea. The villa is just a short drive away from sites of cultural interests – the baroque towns of Scicli, Noto, Donna Lucata or Modica, makes Villa Casuzza an excellent choice to live fully the Sicilian experience.
Inside
Villa Casuzza has a ground and upper floor. On the ground floor, you will find a stylish living area with antique dining table, fireplace and beautiful wooden ceilings and a well-equipped kitchen. On the east side of the floor, we have a double bedroom with two bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a tub. The upper floor consists of two bright, sunny bedrooms (double and twin), each with his own bathroom with a shower.
Outside
The property is reached via a long private driveway so quiet and privacy are guaranteed. The Villa is a perfect combo of contemporary design and the rural style of the island. A large patio on the front of the house offers an amazing view on the modern designed pool and Elysian countryside. Two dining areas surrounded by olives trees, aromatic herbs and dry-stone walls will enhance your sitting, reading, chatting and enjoyment of the Sicilian cuisine.
The location of this villa makes La Casuzza a perfect retreat if you want to explore the south-eastern side of Sicily with its 7 pearls of baroque architecture: Ragusa, Modica, Scicli, Noto, Palazzo Acreide, Caltagirone and Militello, Catania.

The Area
La Casuzza (meaning cozy little home in sicilian dialect) is located near Scicli in the Province of Ragusa .
Scicli has been listed among the UNESCO World Heritage sites since 2002, one of the eight late-Baroque cities of Sicily, it is full of fine churches and buildings from that period and the town hall is famous for having being used as the police station in the TV series Inspector Montalbano.
Other towns on the UNESCO list are not far from the house either. Modica is just 10 km away and besides the late-Baroque buildings it is also well known for its fine chocolates which follow the ancient Aztec recipe brought to Sicily by the Spanish conquistadors.
Noto, the so-called capital city of the Baroque style, is just an hour’s drive. Not only the Cathedral but the whole, beautifully designed and built townscape is a must see.
Not to miss among the other cities listed is Caltagirone, famous for its craft pottery and the 142 beautifully tiled risers in a monumental flight of steps.
Apart from cultural interests this area also offers marvellous seashores and un-spoilt beaches such as Calamosche in the Vendicari Nature Reserve or Inspector Montalbano’s famous beach house in Punta Secca from which he swam most days and is only a 30-minute drive away.
In Vendicari you will have the chance to enjoy one of the most evocative landscapes in Sicily, also chosen by migrating flamingos and other rare, salt-marsh species.
Also not far away lies the charming old fishing village of Marzamemi with its old “Tonnara”. A trip not to be missed!
Finally, Siracusa and its historical centre on the island of Ortigia, the many incredible sights to be seen span from the Greek theatre to the Baroque churches and it is only 80 km away and well worth a visit!
