Description
Casa Melograno is a lovely old house typical of the Selinunte countryside. This large property consists of two units, the Casa Melograno and the owner’s house, they are completely indipendent. The house has recently been renovated in good taste and with great care to detail. The architecture, both outside and in, was fully respected using typical local building materials such as terracotta roofing tiles or the terracotta flooring inside.
The charming and panoramic location of Casa Melograno, at the top of the property, affords splendid views over the well tended countryside surrounding the property (olive trees and vineyards) and of the sea, which is just 2 km away.
Inside
On the ground floor a cozy living room opens into a large kitchen and dining area, two comfortable double bedrooms have en-suite bathroom. A staircase to one side leads up to the first floor with a small study room and one double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Casa Melograno both from living room and from kitchen has direct access to the outside terrace.
Outside
A very nice pergola completes the ground floor with a wooden dining suite ideal for open air dinner or lunch and relaxing moments with the view of the pool and the valley.
By walking a few meters through the garden you’ll reach the gorgeous and relaxing 5x14m swimming pool which gives you a wonderful view over the amazing landscape.
You’ll have the sensation of swimming in the valley.

The Area
You can easily reach many popular destinations in western Sicily from this house. It is 10 minutes drive from Marinella di Selinunte, a pretty fishing village on the coast with a long sandy beach, which is still not too touristy. The perfect place for travellers looking for a seaside holiday away from the crowds. About 15 kilometres away is Castelvetrano, a medieval town with a fascinating history and plenty of shops and restaurants. We also recommend visiting the Museo Civico, where it is possible to see the “Efebo di Selinunte”, which dates back to the Bronze Age. In Castelvetrano you can taste very good typical local products such as the Black Bread of Castelvetrano, made with whole-grain flour from an ancient Sicilian durum wheat called Tumminia. The town is also well known for its olive production and extra virgin olive oil from the Belice valley. Selinunte Acropolis, the largest archaeological park of Europe, is just a few minutes drive and it is a must when travelling in this part of the island. Nearby it is also possible to visit the Cave di Cusa, where the people of Selinunte extracted the stone to build their temples. Not far from the villa is Mazara del Vallo, with its charming old centre, restaurants and shops, and the Casbah, an old Arabic neighbourhood with characteristic narrow streets, which is a great example of integration between different cultures. About 90 km away is Agrigento, with its Valley of the Temples. Within easy range is Trapani, where it’s also possible to take the hydrofoil and visit the magical Aegadi Archipelago, a popular destination for diving and snorkelling. You simply cannot miss watching the sunset in the evocative landscape of the Trapani and Paceco Salt Pans Nature Reserve and the Islands of the Lagoon, situated between Trapani and Marsala, an hour away by car. A little bit further north is San Vito Lo Capo, which has a good selection of shops, restaurants (don’t forget to try their famous Cous Cous!) and bars, beautiful sandy beaches, and the Zingaro Natural Reserve. It is also possible to access the Reserve from Scopello, where we recommend visiting the old “baglio”, a timeless place where you can taste the typical “pane cunzatu” or a very nice “cassatella”. And then of course – also not to be missed – there are the ancient Greek village of Segesta and the very nice medieval town of Erice both in Trapani province.

Beautiful property and reliable agency
The Casa Melograno house, setting and pool are all fabulous for a family of 4-7, and Select Sicily were really helpful and quick to respond. I highly recommend both the property and agents.

We had a very relaxing stay.
We had a very relaxing stay. The terrace has amazing views across the valley of vinegroves and olive trees. We watched the sunset and the bats fly. The pool is incredible which meant the kids didn't want to leave. There was comfy seats to drink wine from which we meant we didn't either. The area itself is rural with no people. Perfect if you want peace and quiet. It's close to Selinunte with the ruins and a lovely restaurant called Le Pineta right on the beach where we had calamari and Aperol spritz.

Casa Melograno is a find
Casa Melograno is a great house, great views and very well set up for a family. The pool, eating areas and views are the highlights. It is near beaches but a car is essential for supermarkets which are c. 15 minutes away. Highly recommend. Agent Aldo and gardeners are all very helpful.

We had a great stay at the Villa
We had a great stay at the Villa and can highly recommend it for having a relaxed time with a stunning view from the pool and perfect privacy. The villa is also greatly located to explore the South-Western part of Sicily like the Selinunte archeological park and the Menfi wine region. The communication and check-in & check-out procedures were efficient and pleasant - got great recommendations for restairants and activities in the region! Thanks much for the great time we had!

We had a really nice peacefull time
We had a really nice peacefull time. Aldo and Nino were really helpfull and reacted right away when we needed them. The view is absolutely stunning. The Kitchen was well equipped and it was clear that they really look after the place. There are two roads that lead to the villa and one of them is very bumpi but the second road works perfectly fine. We had a great time and really enjoyed the peacefull surroundings and the beautiful sunsets. I can absolutely recommend this place.

Das Haus ist wirklich ein Traum!
Das Haus ist wirklich ein Traum, perfekte ruhige Lage und tolle Natur außen rum. Es ist sehr ruhig gelegen und perfekt zum Erholen. Wir wollten gar nicht mehr weg :) Auch wir hatten ein paar Schwierigkeiten das Haus zu finden. (und ein größeres Auto hätte auf jeden Fall Sinn gemacht, die Straßen sind wirklich etwas abenteuerlich :) ) Aber die Kommunikation mit Aldo war sehr einfach und angenehm und er hat uns direkt dort abgeholt wo wir gestrandet waren. Wir können das Haus nur empfehlen und hoffen, dass wir irgendwann nochmal zurück kommen!

Casa Melograno!
We were a family of 5 staying in Casa Melograno for 2 weeks in September. The villa was set in a stunning location with a view across a wide valley of vineyards and olive groves. The infinity pool was incredible and regularly cleaned and maintained by the caretaker who was friendly and discreet. We were only a very short drive away from Marinella di Selinunte, which has a number of excellent restaurants, a small supermarket, daily fish auction on the port, and bakeries where you can pick up fresh bread and pastries. Beautiful beaches are very easily accessible as the villa is located only a couple of kilometres from the sea. Our favourite was in front of the lido Zabbara (where you can get food and drink), with the amazing Ancient Greek temple as the backdrop. A very comfortable villa in an excellent location. Select Sicily were very communicative and we were welcomed with bottles of wine from the local area. Highly recommended overall.

Top Marks Select Sicily and Villa Melograno 1
We organised our trip to Sicily through Select Sicily Villas. They were professional and helpful throughout. A 2 week stay was booked at the wonderful Villa Melograno One in August. The Villa was incredible and set raised above a breath taking valley with Vines and Olive trees as far as the eye could see. Coming from a hectic work environment in Central London this was the perfect place to escape for peace and tranquillity. Our hosts were friendly and helpful as was Select Sicily ensuring we were happy and settled. The swimming pool was amazing and our children loved it. A great company to book through who are incredibly proud of Sicily and an amazing and wonderful Villa to relax and recharge our batteries before returning to the hustle and bustle of London.

Sicily villa holiday
Very much enjoyed our recent holiday in Select Sicily villa Casa Melograno. Pool was amazing with lovely decking area and great views over the countryside. Lots of shady outdoor space too for eating or relaxing. Select Sicily were very helpful during both the booking process and locally for handover and during our stay.

A great booking experience & peaceful retreat
From booking our holiday right through to checkout, the team at Select Sicily were fantastic. Offering advice to help us decide which of their beautiful villas we were going to stay in, greeting us warmly with a bottle of local wine up on arrival and responding immediately to any questions we had, they really are a great team. The villa we chose, Casa Melograno, has everything you could need for a relaxing, peaceful stay & was perfect for us as a family of 3 with a eight month old baby. The views are truly spectacular, lying by the pool you can see vineyards for miles. You can explore the wonderful local beaches, nature reserve and towns with a very short drive. I would highly recommend Select Sicily & Casa Melograno, for a stress free escape, suitable for all the family.

A wonderful and peaceful place!
This wonderful villa, equipped with a delightful swimming pool, has been chosen by my family for a quite holiday in the countryside of Sicily, in a location which is (almost) at walking distance from the seaside (but far enough from the unavoidable noise of a crowded coast).
The place really exeeded our expectations: everything was perfect and the people who take care of the house (not a staff properly, but nearly a staff) have been extremely kind and offered prompt help, assistance and very useful suggestions for any need or problem we faced.

Super villa company
Casa Melograno was just as described. In fact it was probably more beautiful. The outside is impeccably maintained and the views are stunning. Select Sicily were very helpful with information and provided a flexible and easy check-in/out process. I will definitely look at their selection again for my next trip.

We had a great holiday staying in Casa Melograno!
We had a great holiday staying in Casa Melograno. We were 2 families (a 3 year old and a 4 month old baby). We were welcomed by Aldo and he was easy to contact if we needed anything. The villa has everything you need, including a washing machine, microwave, large private pool plus many other extras. The pool was cleaned every morning and the garden was kept in good order too. The views from the property are amazing too!

A beautiful villa with wonderful pool in peaceful countryside
We loved our stay at this property. The rooms were perfect and kitchen large and efficient. The veranda was wonderful, with amazing uninterrupted views of the sunset. The pool was completely fantastic: spacious, clean, with incredible views. The locale is peaceful with interesting sites such as the temples of Selinunte to see and beautiful beaches to visit within a 15 minute drive. We particularly liked Lido Fiore which has easy parking, a nice bar and lovely shallow clear sea which is great for children. The property is highly recommended.

Simply magical
My husband and I and our 2 kids, (9 & nearly 2) stayed in Casa Melograno in the last 2 weeks in May.
This villa made our holiday go from wonderful to spectacular. It was well equipped with plenty of space and a view to die for.
The pool was a bit on the chilly side but we went early in the season and it hadn’t had time to warm up. However this did not stop us going in!
It was truly a place for us to unwind and relax into this gorgeous country.
Aldo and the other guys were very helpful and kind.
I highly recommend this villa if you want to al fresco dining with an incredible view, a fabulous pool and comfy beds.
I had a hot stone massage at Momentum in Selinunte, which was a nice treat.
We also found an incredible bakery in Castlevatrano which sold the only proper sourdough Il Pane Nero di Castlevatrano. It was called Panificio Rizzo on Via Giuseppe Garabali. They do wonderful croissants and yummy treats and the most incredible sweet breadsticks ever! A must.

We came, we saw, we fell in love!
From the first moment we arrived at the property we had one of our best holidays ever. All brand new, clean and spacious. Fruit & vegetables to be picked from the neighbours (owners of the property: such a warm and helpful family!). The luxurious swimming pool. We’ll definitely show up once (or many) more!

What a great time there
The house, with its 3 bedrooms, is clean and comfortable and the view on the Valle del Belice is fantastic. A quiet place with a fantastic swimmingpool that is daily cleaned by the gardener. The location is perfect as well, not far from Menfi and quite closed to Marinella. We have spent one week holiday there and were sad to leave it as we really enjoyed staying there. We’ll surely come back next year.

A nice place to stay!
We enjoyed our stay in the Casa Melograno located in Marinella di Selinunte. The house is in very good condition, with three beautiful bedrooms (each with a private bathroom). Moreover, there are two living rooms fully equipped. The pool, located right next the house, gave an extra dimension to our holidays: we enjoyed hanging around, swimming, having apero and watching the beautiful sun-sets. The owner/caretaker are very friendly people, and supported us whenever we needed it. Overall, a very nice place which we can definitely recommend.
