The Area

Solanto is a seaside hamlet in the municipality of Santa Flavia, just 20 km from Palermo.
From blue Solanto, the Sicilian capital city is reachable in 20 minutes by car, it features some of the most important UNESCO Heritage sites of the island, such as the Cathedral, the Norman Palace and its astonishing Palatine Chapel.
To fully appreciate the uniqueness of the Arab Norman style defined by Unesco as “an outstanding example of a socio-cultural syncretism between Western, Islamic, and Byzantine cultures” we also suggest you visit the Cathedrals of Monreale and Cefalú, within easy range from the villa.

In Cefalù, which is just 50 Km away, we also recommend a nice walk through the characteristic narrow streets, full of nice shops and restaurants or either relax on the long sandy beach.
Bagheria, well known for its splendid 18th-century historic villas and palaces, birthplace of the painter Renato Guttuso and the award-winning director Giuseppe Tornatore. In Bagheria you can find many very good restaurants, also starred restaurants and nice shops. We also suggest you to try some street food such as the “focaccia with ricotta cheese” or the typical “Sfincione” (spongy bread with Fresh ricotta, anchovies, onions, and breadcrumbs).
For a day trip, do not miss Scopello and Zingaro Nature Reserve or either Trapani and Egadi Islands, all within easy range.
